In the quiet town of Jassur, nestled in Nurpur tehsil of Himachal Pradesh, a group of friends turned grief into purpose. What began as a tribute to a beloved friend has grown into a nationally recognized movement of compassion.
🕊️ Honoring Garry’s Dream
Nikhil Rajput—affectionately known as Garry—was just 22 when he tragically lost his life in an accident, days before India’s COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Garry had gone to help a dialysis patient reach the hospital when the accident occurred. His passing left a void, but his friends chose to fill it with action.
Garry had always dreamed of starting an NGO to help those in need. Inspired by his vision, his friends—led by Ankit Verma and Director Varun—began distributing essential kits to families struggling during the lockdown. Their first effort reached 400 households.
🌱 The Birth of Garry Cares Foundation
The overwhelming response to their initial outreach led to something bigger. In March 2020, Garry’s friends formally launched the Garry Cares Foundation, officially registering it in September 2021. Since then, the organization has completed five impactful years of service.
Their mission: to uplift the underserved through medical aid, food distribution, education support, and more—always in Garry’s name.

One of their earliest cases involved a young girl bitten by a snake. Her family couldn’t afford the ₹4 lakh needed for treatment. The foundation rallied support through social media and raised ₹6 lakh—saving her life.
Since then, they’ve:
- Funded surgeries for newborns
- Supported marriages for girls from low-income families
- Provided emergency aid during natural disasters
- Partnered with hospitals and local authorities for outreach
Their work has been featured in newspapers, and they’ve been invited as chief guests to major community events—a testament to their growing impact.
